On a supply run, zombies ambush the trio, resulting in a collision of diverting personalities stemming from a mysterious past tension. In the safe zone, Griffin grows restless in an unfulfilling position and mistreatment by those deemed “adults,” pushing her to fight for her own advancement - whatever means necessary. Griffin flies under the radar and sends Austen to a zombie-infested area under the guise of June’s, the safe zone's leader, direction. Sabine has a breakdown as the stress of her past choices haunt her, while Kourtney struggles to find her place in the camaraderie of Sabine and Garth. Bitten but alive, Austen arrives back to the safe zone and blames June for the attack, leading to questions of leadership. Faltering under humanity, June is unable to kill the bitten Austen, but Griffin does not have the same qualms.
